Why were my valves perfect after 14,000 miles ?

I decided to do my valve adjustment today since it was almost 8 months and about 14,000 miles since I last did this job. I took everything apart, got ready to tackle this valve mission. I checked every single valve and they were perfect.... I mean EXACT. I got really pissed since I did not get to adjust them after taking half of the engine apart. I slapped on a new valve cover gasket and put it together. Should i wait another 14,000 miles before I adjust them or will they get screwey soon ?

other things I did to the car today....
radiator flush
lower radiator hose
upper radiator hose
new upgraded bosch fuel pump

Thanks...

Well.......if it will make you feel any better.......drive on over here and you can do the valves on the SD. I think it has about 25K since the last adjustment, so, you can almost be guaranteed some fun.

It's 30,000 mile's for valve adjustment if I remember right. Reguardless of mileage what I was told by a MB mechanic is the engine ages the frequency of adjustment often becomes less frequent as the motor breaks in and sets up its ware pattern's.

Easy Brian, easy... maybe he can do both our cars????
