Proof that I have nothing better to do with my time.

For the first time in a long while I have nothing to fix on my car. So I am looking for issues to resolve. One thing that I am curious about is that my original Becker Radio in my 95 E300 Diesel is supposed to change volume based on the car's speed. The higher the speed the higher the volume. At least that's how its supposed to work. My Radio has never done that.

I got the Radio into the self-test mode, drove the car at various speeds, looked at its LCD display, and noticed that IT DOES recognize correctly the changes in speeds. The problem is that it does nothing about it. No change in Volume whatsoever.

Does that feature work properly for anyone with this Becker Radio? Any ideas as to what could be wrong?

As I said in the beginning. This issue is proof that I have nothing better to do with my time these days. I sure hope that this remains my biggest problem with this car.

BTW, yes I know that perhaps I should have posted this to the Audio Newsgroup. But I have much more faith in my Diesel group.

Phil

In other forums and newer model I have read that the feature can be turned on and off. May be yours is turned off. Is there a way to toggle that. May be you can google the radio to see if there is a manual or info for it.

Hi Rafi,

Your response makes sense. I never thought of that. I'll try and find out if there is a way to turn this feature on and off.

Maybe I will post this to the "Car Audio" newgroup

Thanks

Phil

If you have plenty of time on your hands, why not reconnect the small belt drive between the speedometer needle and the volume control?

Cheers,
Wes

I know in my 99 that feature can be turned on and off because I've had the dealer turn it off twice. But for some reason it keeps coming back and it really annoys me.
