Vacuum pieces and parts

All-
I have a question about the small inline 'baffles' in the vacuum system of my 123. I was fooling around, replacing parts that were cracked and crumbly, when I came across these plastic inline pieces. They are not valves, they are too small. They are green or some other color, and have a male connection at each end. Some have a small aperture in the center, others have a larger one. Are they all supposed to have the same size aperture in the middle, or are mine full of soot and need reaming? And the little green 'drum' style inline valves- which direction should the arrow be pointing, and if I blow through them, should they only blow in the direction of the arrow?
My shutoff is beginning to drag on, my trans clunks when rolling to a stop and shifts rough/inconsistent, and my door locks lose vacuum. So I'm beginning the process of elimination. My yellow check valve I can see has been leaking oil? and getting it all over the nearby hard plastic lines. Also, where can I get the L and small/large Y-shaped vacuum connectors? Advance only has generic hose and t-joints. I have all the same symptoms everybody else has now its time to find the leaks- ugh.

Those are metered orrifices, different colors are different sizes, the FSM says which are which. It does not however say which goes where or how to figure this out. Nobody else says this either because I believe they do not really know and just keep quite about it. I've come to some conclusions that I don't believe I can relate in a clear fashion right now, stick a vac gauge on there and observe things with and without them. Clean em out, but not with anything hard, it's a tiny-ish hole..
