manual transmision parts cost

ive been noticing some problems with my 300D with in the last month or so fist of all i can feel my clutch slipping alittle bit. mostly on agressive acceleration. i also can feel the syncros on 2nd and 3rd gears making noise. mostly when i have to rev it up to get up to speed like getting on the high way for example. im going to have the chance to rebuld my trany in spring. what might be the cost of a friction disk and replacement syncros and or gears. whats the cost for these parts? and where might i be able to find them? thanks seth (for the record the car now has 110,000 miles on it)

Yeah, I'm going to do a clutch on mine before the winter.. it isn't really bad but I want it perfect. I too am wondering where to get a 300D M/T clutch.. I hear it is different than the 240D clutch.

Before you go digging into the tranny to replace those syncros, try refilling it with Redline MTL first. There are a number of people who swear by this stuff. If you eventually find the need to rebuild the transmission, contact forum member Carrameow. He posted a couple times yesterday, and has personally rebuilt a 240D manual transmission. So he should be able to tell you where to get parts and literature.

The 300D comes with 235mm clutch which is standard fitment on the OM 616 engines sold here in India, the original 240D came with 180mm clutch.

I'm sure someone asked you this at some point, but I missed it. Do they have manual trans 300D's in India? As in, can you send me a flywheel!?

Don't forget to ask about the all-elusive 5-speed.

wolf_walker,

I would be glad to send you the flywheel, it costs around $60apprx. last time I checked as long as you dont have poor perceptions of anything that has a made in India stamp on it. I just have to find out the weight of the object as the only hinderance of sending heavy parts is that the shipping costs can sometimes offset the cost of the parts.

The G-18 ZF 5 speed for the 300D costs around $1000 brand new, with its weight the shipping costs would be quite high too, wouldn't be a cost effective proposition unless you care to make a trip down to India, see the Taj and other parts and take back the tranny with you.

Is that US currency? If so, even with $500 shipping it's still a bargain compared to about $2500 stateside.

Yes in US currency, if you are serious about this, I would take a look for you on the actual cost of the tranny as well as shipping.

The problem is that if you are doing a transfer from an auto, you also need the matching flywheel clutch kit as well as the hydraulics, the costs do add up.
