No Electric To Transmission
My friend has a 1982-240D that was manual and has ben converted over to a automatic Transmssion...It does not have any electic feed to the driver's side of the transmission...nor does it have the kickdown feed to the passenger side of the transmsission..it appears to have part of the kickdown under the accelerator...more about that after I find out what a kickdown consists of....Will this engine run with no electric feed to the transmission...It is not currently running....help would be appreciated....Jim

The engine should start and run since the starter circuitry isn't influenced by a neutral start switch. Besides that safety feature, you give up reverse lights. I can't recall the last time I pressed the SDL pedal enough to engage the kickdown switch. I usually downshift manually with more predictable results. The tranny doesn't always think it owes me the favor of a downshift.
I think the problem will be rock hard redline shifts with no vacuum signal to the transmission vacuum modulator. Or does the manual transmission IP have a transmission vacuum switch thingy you can bring into play? Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
