Rejoicing the moment

Hello everyone!

Can you imagine this: currently, at the moment, everything on my car works! Is this not one of the greatest moments in a Mercedes owner's life?

The alarm system had a mind of his own ever since I could remember: it remotely locked the doors but most of the time would not close windows and roof (had they been open). Or, it would lock the doors and windows, but would not sound alarm when someone opened the door.

Or, it wouldn't sound alarm and would not wind up windows at the same time. After having fiddled with the system several times earlier I was able to fix that every now and then only to find out that immediately, after having fixed the window feature, cruise control stopped working. It wasn't because I cut some CC wire. It was because of some supernatural link between them two.

It makes you wonder whether these cars are designed to operate properly more than just one thing at a time.

Is it really possible to have (for example) your cruise control working along with vacuum locks and maybe airconditioning at the same time? Or is there a component built-in into the system that, when one thing operates, shuts down other components so that when you repair your A/C your CC will stop working, when you repair your CC then it sends a signal to say dashboard dimmer so that it can quit to work since something else in the system got fixed?

Anyhow! I am proud (and relieved) to say that at this moment - this proud 6th October 2004 both cruise control, remote locks, remote windows and alarm work! I fixed them (again) yesterday. Of course I found out I had no reception in radio after that, but I fixed the reception today. When I am lucky I may end up having all of the above work at the same time for a week. Envy me

Um, IMHO, your car has too much stuff...

"conveniences" that actually aren't when you balance out the "good" they do against the cost and frustration of keeping them in service. Don't really understand the utility of "keyless entry."

All accessories are not our friends.

Hello!

"Um, IMHO, your car has too much stuff... "

Hmm. The thing is all of the stuff had been put in the car by the manufacturer. The only thing I put in was remote locking/alarm (in one unit).

"Don't really understand the utility of "keyless entry.""

It's good. You can have plastic caps in the locks - they don't freeze this way. Even if they do it's no problem as you don't actually use the locks, you unlock remotely. Your family don't have to wait until you come to the car to insert the key - you can comfortably unlock the car from a distance of several yards so they can hop in. Also with remotely locking the doors you activate the alarm.

"All accessories are not our friends."

That is true. The only accessory I put in was the remote lock.
