Larry, would it help to loosen one (or more) of the injector lines at the injector and crank away to see what comes out?
Maybe that way you can see if the pump pump is pumping, and if it is, you can see what color "stuff" is in the injector lines. BCingU, Jim ------------------ '96 E300D 61k mi (wife's daily ride) '95 Audi 90 120k mi (my daily ride...) '92 GMC Suburban 140k mi '85 300SD 235k mi KIA/RIP |

The green stuff may be algae. I have never seem green algae before but it can be green in color according to a diesel book I read in the past. David |

Thanks for all the responses to this thread.
I have gotten beyond fuel problems now. The camshaft is retarded. I am now about to pull the vac. pump to see if it came apart, scattering pieces throughout the bottom, which Benzmac has seen cause timing to jump. I also may find a sheared crankshaft timing gear key. Thanks again, if you're interested in following progress, you can start monitoring the "Can a 617 engine jump time?" thread. ------------------ Larry Bible '01 C Class, Six Speed '84 Euro 240D, manual, 533K miles '88 300E 5 Speed '81 300D Daughter's Car Over 800,000 miles in Mercedes automobiles |

Winterized diesel fuel is usually green in color. Normal diesel fuel is usually amber in color, and non road-taxed diesel (ie for farm use only) is usually died red. Are you sure you don't have air in your fuel lines? Anyhow good luck on fixing your problem.
