Silly cig lighter question...

Just discovered that the OEM cigarette lighter won't work with the charger for my new cell phone. The lighter socket must be an older design that doesn't mate up right with the "male" charger unit. I know I can simply buy an aftermarket power socket and wire it up separately, but I'm wondering if anyone has found a more elegant solution for this problem. Thanks!

Drive your car to Radio Shack... if they don't have one... they probably know where you can get an adapter...

Mine fits fine. Just in an awkward spot. I bump it and later find out my phone hasn't charged

Cheers,

Bill

Mines the same way, got to twist and move it to just the right spot then make sure nothing touches it or it stops charging.

Is there anyone that put a second lighter in there car, besides the one in the ashtray, so they can hook up a laptop or iPod, something you see in many modern cars these days?

I have my cell plugged into the rear driver door outlet, and my power cord for my cd thing in the passenger rear door outlet....but that one is touchy, gotta have it in just right for it to work, and for some reason, I have no power at all to the one up front, I've been too lazy to mess with it, since if I used it I'd have cords all over the place upfront instead of on the floor behind me. Something is probably just loose, or its just touchy. Maybe I will just remove the whole ash tray all together and insert a nice car-pc touchscreen module into it

In the SD there is a cigarette lighter in the back, only an ashtray in the back of the CD?

Is it that the socket does not work at all or only with the phone jack? I know mine only works with the key on.

I have 2 outlet chargers

I have one electrical outlet charger for my home and one for work. Between the two the phone is always charged. I like my front area clean of clutter, incl. wires.

We had a similar problem to yours re: power to the kids DVD player on long trips. They don't get the player for any drive less than 2 hrs.
Our solution was to have a charged power pack battery with the attached jumper cables. It has a cig outlet to power accessories.
