Hats off to Tony Oz!

Hats off to TonyFromWestOZ for pointing out in an earlier thread that you can swap the return and supply hoses and get your car running once again if the strainer gets plugged.

It happened today to me and the lovely and charming Marlene. I was on the way into the office and she suddenly started loosing power and shaking...definitely starving for fuel but, with over 1/4 tank indicated on the gauge. I pulled into a parking lot to take a peek under the hood and realized that the clear filter was full of fuel so, my first guess was a plugged secondary filter.

A logial conclusion because of the crap I've asked this car to run on lately and over the last year.

I was able to limp the remaining few blocks to work at a subdued pace.

Anyway, I go out at lunch and swap in a new secondary but cannot get the hand pump to pick up prime...hmmm, I wonder if that biodiesel I've been running is cleaning out the fuel system ang plugged the strainer? So I pull the inlet line loose and blow into it...there is a huge amount of resistance that finally lets loose. but, I still cannot get the hand pump to pick up any fuel.

Eureka!! I remembered Tony's hose swapping trick and swapped the hoses, purged the filter and a few cranks and shakes later she's running like the sweet thing she is.

I'll dig in this weekend and sort out whatever the problem is.

Thanx Tony!!
