Stuck Glovebox
On a 87 300D, the glovebox seems to not want to open. I'm assuming that the innards are busted as the key can turn to either position and it still won't open. Is there anyway to get this open without mutilating the dash? The door doesn't really matter as i purchased a replacement for that, just in case.
I've searched with no luck either. |
Stuck
Mine was the same way. I used a thin bladed knife and pushed the catch out of the way. On the plastic liner there is a nipple that the lock/release mechanism is secured to. Mine was broken off. Metal vs plastic.... metal always wins. To fix it I bought a small stove bolt and a nut and lock washer. The bolt must be the same diameter as the broken plastic nipple. I drilled a hole where the nipple was and inserted the bolt in the hole and assembled the lock mechanism. Works fine/lasts a long time. Also cheaper than the plastic door liner !!!!

Yeah, but is the latch on a W124 similar?

Thanks for the replies but it seems that your repairs are for the W123, this is on a W124.
