Changing the color of seats
Does anyone know how I can change the color of my seats. I just picked up two front seats in outstanding condition for my 83 300SD. I got them out of a 85 500SEL. They are leather, maroon in color and I want to dye them dark blue to match my interior. What do I do and how do I do it. I know that the easy way to go is with covers but I do not want to rely on that fix. I feel like I have a new car with the seats.

The only thing I have seen is vinyl paint. I did a dash in F250 once and it held up good and the color matched perfectly.
I would think on seats it would wear. I'll be following this thread as I've got a car with some sunfading on the seats and the carpet in the rear[300td wagon]. Have not searched yet but I want to find out if there is a dye for carpets.... Cheers, Bill |
some on this forum have used a product called leatherique with success, I haven't tried it (yet).

I think if you were to contact leatherique, they would tell you exactly how to do this. I put leatherique on my 85's palomino seats, which were faded, and after a year, there is no wearing through.
If it did wear through, all you would need to do is to paint your seats again. They don't actually have maroon or navy cows, you know... |

Really? I've seen 'em, but not since the 70's :D |
Sure they have have Navy cows. How do you think they rescue the Maroon-ed ones?

The only place that I have seen leatherique is World Upholstery.
Try: www.worlduph.com they have a very extensive line up for MB interiors. |
