Any gasket in 300SD differential?

I went to change my differential fluid yesterday on my 300SD but noticed that it seems to be leaking. I can't quite figure out where the leak is from, though it is a very tiny one that I probably shouldn't worry too much about. So I was wondering, is there such a thing as a differential gasket? I checked the M-B CDs but found no such information.

I already peformed a search here and it seems like everyone just talks about the seals at the points connecting the driveshaft to the differential. However that's not where my leak seems to be coming from. Any help would be awesome as usual!!

gasket

there is not a gasket at the rear cover, mercedes recommends flange type selant that is anerobic in nature. i have seen silicone used with good results. mercedes sells the sealant but it can be quite expensive. Ray

Not quite sure I get you. You mean like glue?

If you mean glue, then will the Toyota glue be good enough? Toyota uses some of the most powerful sealing glue I've ever heard of. I have some of it here just in case my Mazda 929 or my Corolla start leaking as their transmission and oil pans are held by glue not gaskets.

send me an email and i will send you more information, i may even have a tube i will give you somewhere. the sealant is not a glue, it is designed to seal metal to metal surfaces. Ray

Go to a Honda or Acura Dealer, get a tube of Hondabond, its like silicone sealer only better. Not shure what Mercedes sells theirs for but this is about $10 a tube. Real good stuff.
