Warning...Ebayer 300D not being totally forthcoming

Just a heads up...I looked at this car online...I was VERY impressed by the interior and the paint looked great...except for where it couldn't be seen with the doors and other parts closed.

So I emailed the seller asking what the original color was...thinking it was Anthracity Gray like my 300SD.

Reply came that it was.

The ad still says "in the best color combination BLACK ON BLACK!! " without a single mention of the repaint.

I don't like it when sellers don't want to discuss repaints....it makes me think it's hiding something.....Especially in New Jersey when the dealer takes it to a very high dollar area to take the pix.....

This is the ad on EBAY

Be very carerul about this one.....

I thought that one looked nice too. but like someone else here noticed, I thought it odd that the crankcase breather tube is disconnected from the air filter housing. Is it blowing so much oil through that it clogs up the air filter?

Someone also noticed infrequent oil changes, which could just be poor recordkeeping, and that they were using plain-old 10w40.

The seller also trots out the 'this is the same car as the one that holds the record, 1.3 million miles on one engine!!!' when we all know the recordholding car was on engine number four.

This car has been on ebay a couple of times I asked many questions and never got a reply from the seller. I'd steer far away.

Hoodpad is falling apart, not an expensive repair so why wasn't it done.? Also door jambs and radiator support look grey not black. Unless you can go inspect it in person I would stay away. Numerious signs of a color change repaint.

Why does the subtitle say "300 SDL 300SD"?? Only 17 feedback and 1 negative also.

"THESE CARS ROUTENLY LAST IN EXCESS OF 500K MILES AND...."

What...is there some kind of back alley for deadbeat wannabe MB used car salesman school I haven't heard about? That phrase must be on page one of the training brochure...sheesh it's getting old
The least the guy could do is learn how to spell when trying to off $5000 cars. I noticed in his 1 of 17 feedbacks (the neg one) his first word of his reply in caps to his feedback was "LIER"...sheesh... Ok I hate the grammar and spelling police here on the forum as much as anyone here but man when you're trying to sell class rigs to the public (other than Bubba and Billybob) ya need to play the game and at least buy a spell checker. I wouldn't trust this yahoo farther than I can throw a dictionary. Buyer bewayer.

I would be interesting in the feedback the winning bidder leaves on this one. And I wonder how much bondo is hiding under that paint.

Almost every single listing for old MB diesels on ebay has those words... So if I wanted to sell a Yugo, can I say that they routinely last 50,000 miles if they don't fall apart while leaving the dealership???
