220D injection pump oil
Hi,
Just picked up a '72 220D that I'll be working on getting the engine running soon. Heard the IP might be out of oil and will need to put more in it. Hoping it's not ruined but don't know yet. For future reference what brand/type/weight of oil should I put in it? If it's specialty oil, where should I get it? Thanks, Bryant |

IP oil ???
In my 300D the oil is supplied via a line direct to the IP. Not too sure on your car though.

I think if you do a search for "220D IP oil" or something along that line you'll find how to drain the old oil out and where to fill it etc.

bbaecht,
The older 190D, 220D and 240D have an overflow tube on the engine side of the IP. You add engine oil after removing the red cap marked Oel and check for oil coming out of the overflow tube. Don't put too much oil in at a time. It takes a while for the oil to get thru the overflow tube. But the oil level will eventually come to the correct level if you put to much oil in. P E H |
