ON, you bought the Hazet eh? I went for the Stahlwille 27x51mm deep socket, as it was stated that it could be used for both engine turning/injector R&R. But the site states that the Hazet has the relief section for the return nipples. They both look the same, and the Stahlwille does not have anything on the inside that looks like it will interfere with the nipples, so I hope it will work for both.

The reason I bought the Hazet is because I had a 27 mm std socket, and I didn't want to take a chance of breaking off nipples with a regular deep socket. Real OEM quality German made injectors are like finding chicken with teeth these days.

how about grinding out a relief out of a deep well socket? Then you don't risk it. Photo on the tool site looks like thats exactly what they did.

I bought a standard 27mm deep socket from Acme auto parts, just a local store. I checked to make sure it was deep enough, you need about 57mm. Less than $10, worked just fine

I'll have to do some analysis to see if the Stahlwille I bought will work for the injectors. If 57mm is needed then it won't, but why do they state that it will if it won't? Mama never told me there would be days like these...

I bought my valve adjusting wrenches from them. I'm confused now. Which tool do you need to remove the injectors? Is it the 1/2" dr socket for Injector nozzle holding nut listed under "Elora" tools (#403 589 04 07 00) for $39.99 or is it the Extra Deep 27mm , 1/2" drive socket for injection nozzles on diesel OM615, OM616, OM617, OM621 listed under "Stahlwille" (#001 589 65 09 00) for $31.77?

You need part # HZ 4555N from HAZET for removing injectors, I don't think the Stahlwillie # SW 51-27 is anything but a regular 27 mm deep socket. The Elora is not for removing your injectors.

One of the reasons I got the Hazet is that's what the local injector shop said I should have, not a regular socket.

Hey ON- the Stahlwille will work. From the horse's mouth:

Mr. delano,

The Stahlwille 51-27 has a MB number 001 589 65 09 000 and is listed for diesel injectors on OM617. It also has extra room inside.

So it seems you can use the Hazet OR the Stahlwille 27-51mm to remove/replace injectors. I bought the Stahlwille cuz it was advertised as a socket that will both turn the engine AND remove/replace injectors, plus it was like eight bucks cheaper than the Hazet.

@#$%^&* Now you tell me!!! Can I do a return, refund and reorder? :p Probably not worth the effort.

Why is a valve spring wrench needed to adjust valves on these cars? I never had to use anything like that on any US or Jap cars.

Nah you got the nicer socket IMHO. As far as the third valve adj. wrench, the weird lookin' one, I can't imagine why it is needed either, but they made it for the purpose of valve adjustment and in the interest of being correct I bought it. I shall discover why it is needed for myself the very next time I adjust the valves, which at my current rate will be 5 yrs from now cuz I never get to drive the damn thing!

Pete has confirmed that you can use a standard 27mm deep socket.

Therefore, you can also use a 1 1/16 deep socket. They are, effectively, identical.
