No Power at 6000' !!!!!!

Just took my '82 300D Turbo on a road trip from Vegas to my place in Tahoe. It did great most of the trip 70-80 mph, but when I hit altitude (6000') I saw a dramatic loss of power and cannot get over 45 mph! It has done this every time I come up here. I understand that it is probably running very rich because of the thin air. To compensate, would I just need to adjust the mixture, or is there anything else I need to do? I thought I would ask the experts in this forum before I start wrenching on this girl and screw something up. Vielen Dank!!

Hey-

Just happened to me on a road trip from the seacoast of N.H. to Denver. When we came up around 5,000' the benz was not happy. A local benz mechanic advised that I should turn up the Alda and check to see that the boost line which runs from the intake manifold to the alda was clean as well as the banjo bolt that secures the alda to the line to the intake manifold. He also suggested that I just bypass the overboost valve. For my car he suggested turning up the alda, turn the screw counter-clockwise, at least a full turn. This made a huge difference and the car had great power up over 9000'. Good luck!

I've been up both Pikes Peak and Mt. Evans. Both are 14,000+ft above sea level.

I did not have any power issues when boost was above 3psi (Trust me, it's hard to maintain that with 15+ switchbacks!).

No power

I live at 7300msl in Evergreen, first adjust ALDA one turn coounter clockwise and drive should help dramaticaly, if not check boost next should be .9 bar. if not, adjust turbo waste gate spring (do a search) then readjust ALDA until some smoke under load.
The cars fly at altitude if dialed in correctly.

i second that emotion - turn up the alda. isn't that what it was designed for?

greetings from absolute sea level...
