Was there ever a W126 diesel coupe?
I am pretty sure the only 126 coupes imported into this country were gassers. Were there any 126 diesel coupes in any country?
Same question for 124 coupes. I think the only turbo-diesel coupes were 123s built from '82-'84 and there were about 8000 imported. |

There was never a 126 diesel coupe:
380 SEC 420 SEC (very rare in the US) 500 SEC 560 SEC I suppose you could put an OM 617 in a coupe chassis and call it a “300 SDC.” |

I like the looks of the S-Class coupe, it is pretty sharp. |

Wouldn`t fit. Barley enough room for a V 8.

That would be so much fun! You could deflate a few riced Hondas ego's while your at it.

FWIW, fellas, the C126's only were offered with V8's. That is the worldwide criterium for an SEC. No diesels, and nothing less than 3.8 liters and 8 cylinders.
I don't think a diesel would suit an SEC well. I think the V8's suit those cars just fine. I would prefer the 420SEC(for fuel economy), too bad they only made them for overseas. |

I have no idea why you would even take the time to write such a reply. Feeling insulted because I don't think a diesel "matches" the s-class w126 coupe body? Sorry to see you care |

This is one diesel that would make short work of an M117.968's paltry 238hp. It would fit just fine under the hood of a C126 too.

Why limit yourself? Beef the front suspension to handle a 12 valve 6BT Cummins, remove the hood, up the fuel output form the injector pump, put high-flow injectors on, add a second turbo with intercooler, and go to town If one of these engines can get a 7000lb+ crew-cab 4x4 pickup to break 11 seconds in the quarter mile, imagine what it could do with a 126 coupe I'm guessing that it'd be like putting a big block on a go-kart |

Peak power isn't the issue. I'm talking about a linear power curve from a dead stop, smooth and responsive engine, and whisper quiet at top gear highway speeds. Those characterize the SEC's I've driven, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The 603 only gets quiet after 100 mph. And not before. Besides. You know me, right? I'm the nut with all those tire squealing diesel videos! |
