Question old engine oil as Fuel

is anyone using a blend of used engine oil and diesel as fuel I have a 1985 300 SD that I have been considering using in an experiment to burn 50 percent used hydraulic oil mpo 20 I work in a factory and can get this oil for free. I have looked into the veggie oil conversions but getting the vegetable oil seems to be a problem, also hydraulic oil stays liquid at room temperature
I know I will have to filter it too 5microns
I have read an old army report on disposing of waste engine oil in generators they reported some buildup of carbon in the pre chambers
tomorrow hope I will get time to test this theory with one half liter hydraulic oil and diesel Mix fed before the fuel pump in the engine bay
I do not want to contaminate the entire fuel system until I'm sure it will run this way
any help would be appreciated
thank you
Charles

I have run motor oil as fuel. I have heard of people running hydraulic oil as fuel. You make a good point about how temperature affects Veg oil VS mineral oil.

Be sure to filter any oil that you burn as fuel. Don't skimp on the filtering. Make sure that the oil is separated from any water in with the waste.

Thank you for the advice on used engine oil
I have done an experiment with 1qt. of new M. P. O. twenty hydraulic fluid
i broke into the fuel system before the PRefilter and let the engine run for ten minutes on a quart jar of hydraulic oil the engine ran fine except for when I got bubbles in the fuel system
it's smokes more than usual but not as much as other diesel engines. the only problem is hydraulic fluid smells really bad when it is burned.
I found one exhaust leak because of the extra smoke now I just need to fix that.
thanks again

To make it smell better, they do sell perfumes. A buddy pulled in today with his fresh off the lot duramax [Chevy] pickup smelling like cherries.

Cheers,

Bill
