Lower control arm 85 300TD
Does anyone know if I can have the Left lower control arm bushing replaced? Or do I need to purchase a new lower control arm? A new one is over $300 so I'm hoping I can. I thought I saw a kit repair kit, however I'm not sure. Thanks

Lower Contorl Arms are rebuilt. The bushing is replaced and the ball joint is replaced.

lower control arm
I was thinking of purchasing that kit but wasn't sure. Do I need to replace the lower ball joint also? Can't just the bushing be replaced by hammering it out, or does the front coil spring need to be compressed etc?

The lower control arms generally do not need to be replaced unless they are damaged, as in an accident. You will need to compress the coil spring in order to remove the control arm and replace the LCA bushing. On that model car, the ball joint is not mounted in the control arm. It is mounted in the steering knuckle (spindle). The ball joint stem fits into the control arm. (This arrangement is just the opposite of most cars, where the ball joint is mounted in the control arm.) If the ball joint needs replacing, this would certainly be a good time to do it.
