Talking Smoke 'um if you can!!!

Had a couple of young guys riding my bumper last night in town with their new Chevy PU gasser. I could see them in rear view mirror sticking heads and arms out the windows and jestering at me and others. So having driven a lot of "putt putt" miles in town, I floored the old 240D and smoked them but good. They then passed me, we were on a 4 lane blvd the whole time, rolling up the windows and finger jestering. I was needless to say, laughing my butt off. Bet they had to go to car wash to get the soot off the truck.

And to think I almost took the wife's Jetta TDI instead, it won't do a smoke cloud. That's something I really like about having an old soot bomb.

Maybe I can borrow the 616 and put it in my trunk? I can't get the 603 to smoke anything worth talking about no matter what I do. And, Navy, I have the exact same problem with the shi*tboxes constantly on my bumper.

Marlene the wonder wagon will produce a nice VW Bug-sized cloud if you simply start off in 2nd gear.

Nellybell 'sands her flues' on highway tailgaters if you just let off the throttle momentarily.

I guess we will have to add used moter oil to the fuel after the switch to ULSD fuel for tailgater's.

I've pretty much got the 300D's smoking to a minimum with all the first gear takeoffs and the redline additive in it, but the 300SD has been parked for a few days, and when I start from first, you'd better believe there's a haze behind me! WHOOSH! Take that you gasser pickup truck drivin cowboy! That'll learn ya for tailgating me!

Since I tweaked my ALDA I can IF I am going slow enough. At night is when you can really see it in rear view mirror of course.

Mine won't smoke

But I know of a pair of Porsches that have a built in tank for an anti-freeze mixture. A high pressure pump feeds the slippery mix to four nozzles mounted under the rear bumper.

Did "Q" build this car to help escape the bad guys and why antifreze? Does the system really work? Is the owner's last name Bond?

A buddy of mine had an old car where the hoses for the wiper fluid came disconnected from the nozzles on the hood. So he just reoriented them so they pointed out of the sides of the hood. That way he could spray out the sides of the car. If people were agressively passing on either side he could just give them a little squirt.

The coup de grace was when he started filling the wiper fluid tank with human urine. Classic humor.

On a related note, those wiper nozzles are so powerful on new cars that they tend to spray all the way over the car. When I'm on a motorcycle in traffic I'm almost sure that some people choose to wash their windows when I'm behind them just because they know it sprays me... At least it has never smelled like urine...

Peace,
Sam

Suddenly, my EGR stopped functioning (my vac. line may have become blocked) and since then I have very little smoke. On the up-side; I have waaaay more power before the turbo kicks in than I had when the EGR was functional. I do wish I could still throw out a nice smokeball now and then.

I have a few quarts of Delvac 1 laying around maybe I should dump those in the tank?

My SDL will smoke pretty well if I keep the rpms down for about a week, and stay off of the highway. Then if I let it run up to just above 4,500rpm it will leave a nice cloud.

My car is capable of a "hazy cloud" behind me if I rev it up high after some periods of slow driving, but I can't really get any real dark/visible smoke during the day. At night I can see it very well however, huge plumes swirling behind me when I lay it in, I love to see people change lanes behind me at night when they are consumed into my smoke trail

Our SD is too new for me to have had a chance to see if it will smoke but...

The rabbit is a four speed and if I am going 30 to 50 and stomp on the gas I can actually watch the headlights of the guy behind be turn yellow and dim from the smoke. Great fun

I can't NOT smoke

Mine doesn't smoke all that bad under acceleration, but when I let off the accelerator it coughs monster smoke. Tons of smoke in fact. Pretty good amount at idle too. I actually drove it yesterday, and cars following me up to a stoplight were stopping 2 and 3 car lengths behind me. I was actually quite embarrassed. Will it ever end......

**it wouldn't let me attach pics since they were posted in another thread previously. oh well
