need diagram of rubber hoses on switchover valve

1983 300SD.

The vacuum hoses on this car were all mixed up and no vacuum was getting to the modulator. Shifts were very hard.

per shop manual diagrams and engine sticker I've hooked up the hoses correctly. I've also tested each component and adjusted the linkage per spec. problem now is that vacuum always remains at the modulator (22" Hg) even when the switchover valves are rotated (should go down to close to 0 at full throttle). I have the three vacuum pipes (EGR, source and vent) going to the switchover connector (#1, 2 and 3) per factory but I can not find a diagram that shows routing of the little rubber hoses on the switchover valve itself. Can someone show/tell me this info? Some were disconnected and i suspect some are not connected to the correct port.

Thanks

Not sure if this is the same on your car or not but here is a picture (one I had...not take specifically for..sorry) of the vac lines you speak of?
I think mine is older and thus has less parts?
Maybe it will be useful...

(this is from when my oil cooler line decided to commit suicide...)

Thanks for the photo.

The switchover valves (white plastic/nylon with two sliding fingers) are under the large black plastic dust cap which you can see on the valve cover in your picture. You can see three hoses going to a connector on the valve cover. Just behind this connector (but hidden by the black cap) are the switchover valves. The little black rubber molded hoses I'm asking about are attached to the two sides of the switchover valves. Mine are all mixed up; can anyone help me with the correct hook up for these hoses?

Brandon,

The black plastic cover is held on with one screw. If you remove the screw and slide the cover forward to disengage the tab in front the cover lifts off.

Thanks

I found the sort of diagram I need but it's not very clear from this picture which nozzles each hose goes to.

Thanks Phantams,

Take a look at the drawing: "82 300D Fuel & EGR vacuum diagram (other 300 series similar)" in your post. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=105297

Item 64a & 64b show the switchover valves I've been refering to. Attached to it you can see 5 little hoses. I'm not sure that I can make out where each one is connected.

I just got two microswitches fingers today so I will install them and take my best shot positioning those little rubber hoses on my 83 300SD.

Try the skinnerbox site. Load the PDF file at http://skinnerbox.steaky.org/Service/W123/w123CD2/Program/Engine/617/14-050.pdf (require acrobat reader) and start on page 3 (warning, the pages take forever to load). Everything you need is there with a breakdown of what port goes where.
