Neww springs

I think you can buy new springs from the Mercedesshop site.
The dealer will also sell you a set. Chances are that a junkyard might not be the best place, because a car might have been sitting on them for the past 30 years, but if you know how high a new spring should set, you could find out for sure if a boneyard spring might be okay.

I got a set of bumpershocks for an old Buick and they were like new. Perhaps they were replaced on the junker recently. So you could luck out.

Mercedes parts are readily available. Someone in here can tell you if you can't find them from mercedesshop or any one of a number of parts suppliers.

One dealer that discounts prices is Caliber Motors in LA.

You will need a spring compressor, and probably new shocks. Bilsteins are generally accepted as the best.

Good luck.

mercedesshop does not seem to have springs for your car, which I assume is a W114.

adsitco.com has front springs for $89.10 each, and rear ones for $161.10 each, with their usual 10% discount, but before shipping.

mbz.com will give you a phone number for Rusty. He might sell these for less.
Prices vary a great deal, I have found. The price for a new genuine Bosch electric window motor I needed varied from $190 to $72.

Naturally, I bought the $72 one and it works just fine.

Springs are made of specialized steel and cost more than you might guess, I suppose.

If you do a search on "W114 springs", you will find a lot of info on this Forum.

The spring compressor you will need to do this yourself seems to be rather expensive, I have read, but there are people who will rent you one if you leave a deposit.

Good luck!

There are also shops that do custom springs for 4X4's and replacement springs for various cars. It might be worth finding one of these shops.

I second that. Phil has gotten numerous things for me that are not on the web site. He even tells me when he won't be price competitive on a part and I should get it elsewhere. Where else are you going to get that kind of service?
