Differential Mounts

I have been told that on my '87 300dt, the differential mounts are in the wrong position. I Believe that means they are reversed. What is the long term effect of this? Does this need to be corrected?
Dan 87 300dt 135K
81 240D 140K
73 220 ?

I'm not sure what you mean? I don't think you can put it in backwards?

Maybe they're on the bottom of the differential! Sure would ease installation...
