Valve adjustment gaps

YES, I've tried the search.
I need to know what my valves should be adjusted to. 1980 300TD, NON-turbo.
I went to an indy yesterday and he said he adjusts them to 6 thousands (what is that in mm's?). Both the intake and exhaust he adjusts to the same gap.
My link to the online "skinnerbox" thing doesn't work. did the link change?
Thanks yall, and did I mention, I did try the search.
Jimmy

Well, you did specify non-turbo, but my OM617.951 is .15mm intake, .35 exhaust. Hopefully someone w/ a NA motor can confirm...

JimmyL,

Shows how much that indy knows about adjusting valves. You always leave more clearance for exhaust valves because they get hotter than intake valves. Thus exhaust valves expand more which reduces the clearance.

I would stay away from that indy, there's probably a lot more he doesn't know about MB.

There are three types of mechanics. Those who are good with numbers. And those who aren't.

Tango,

OK, so the first type of mechanic is good with numbers is one.

And the second type of mechanic isn't good with numbers is two

But what is the third type of mechanic?
