Nice looking car. I would want to know if the original trap oxidizer has been removed yet, if the head has been upgraded, the vacuum pump upgraded, and all service records available, first.

The 35 MPG is a joke, more like 28-29 at best!

Learn more about this engine in the search section, OM603, and find out why vacuum pump upgrade is vital, why original trap oxidizers were recalled and replaced, not all were....

These are great engines, 603, and cars 126, worth every penny! BB

Nice...

If trap ox is not removed, (large doughnut looking thing in front of turbo) It's really a great thing! Mercedes will still remove it and give you a lot of new parts, poss even a new turbo!
Run a carfax of course, and see if dealer has any books and records. Looks pretty good I would probally check it out pretty thouroghly if I were in the area! Good Luck!

Yeah and check the head number, if memory serves you do not want a #14 head (it's on the side of the head, last number on part) but a 17-22 is ok.

I live in the same town - basically work down the street from this dealer. I won't have time to look at it until Saturday. If anyone is interested, let me know.

The trap ox should be long gone, the head I wouldn't worry about. Just make sure it doesn't have any pressure in the upper hose when it's cold. Also check for fluids mixing. A 14 head is fine as long as you don't overheat it. I would look at the vac pump and make sure it has been updated, their should be 4 screws on the cover. If not work that into the purchase price. Also make sure the radiator has been done along the line in not it is due and cost $400. Other than that just the usual W126 problem areas.
