I listened to you guys again and I went to Wal-Mart just for the jugs of oil. They actually had 15-50 Mobil 1 in 5 quart jugs for only 19.99. My father went out to a different walmart yesterday and they did not even carry the big jugs. Just giving someone the heads up that Seacaucus, NJ has a whole lot of these left.

Seriously, my Wal*Mart had them but I think they are sold out.

Several of the auto parts stores around here carry the larger "juggs" of oil. They also offer a good price break on the larger size. Synthetic Mobil 1 also. It is not stocked on the shelf but usually will have some in the back. You will have to ask for it.

(Will NOT buy at Wal-Mart!)

I haven't seen it at auto parts stores. Only Wal*Mart or once before Farm and Fleet. If Wal*Mart has it, I'll buy there because that is probably going to be the cheapest and most easily advailable instead of chasing all over the world for it.

I'm puzzled as to why everybody is so against Wal mart.

I don't see how Wal*Mart can screw up a 5 qt of Mobil 1 oil. They have a price that is as cheap if not cheaper than other auto parts stores and they are very convenient with their hours of operation and also very convenient for most cities. Hard to argue with that.

OK. So they squish their competition. What company doesn't want to take over the world? They treat their employees like crap. BFD. They hire the unskilled and what not for not much less than Best Buy does. People are envious of their success. Great. What do you want me to do about it? Go elsewhere and pay more, be more inconvenienced and go farther? To what end? Some social goal that I could care less about? I want to buy the oil I want, as close to me and as close to the hours I am advailable to buy it. If you have another company in mind, let me know. Auto parts stores close at 8pm daily except on Sun when they close at 1700 hrs. Wal*Mart is open till 2300 hrs and they are as cheap and close to me. Why should I care to run all over the world with a smaller window of time to purchase it for a price that is as cheap or more expensive than Wal*Mart? IOW, what's in it for me to boycott their store? If there is a difference between buying from Wal*Mart and some other store, who will make up the difference?

now, If I could buy a product from the store next door where I don't have to drive around, park and what not but just walk over like to my neighbour's house, I would pay a little more for the convenience. Just as I would drive across town to buy a bunch of oil if they were having a 2 fo 1 sale. However, inconveniencing myself for nothing, I cannot see.

I'm almost getting a free quart of MOBIL 1 just by going to Wall Mart. It is also very convenient since they carry one jug instead of 5 little quart bottles.

Are you running the 15W-50 this time of year? I was thinking of running lighter oil and I am way south of you. We have seen temps in the high 30s on two mornings so far. I have camellias blooming in my yard.

According to the Mobil1 website I can run 5W30 or 0W40 for my 99 E300 TD

They 'make' money because WalMart demands continuing price reductions from their suppliers. Their style of implementation of this practice is unsustainable over the long term.

There is evidence that some suppliers are selling their inferior quality goods to WalMart in order to maintain the unreal cost reductions forced on them. Lube oil is one of the products, batteries are another.

How do you that the Mobil 1 you are buying at WallyWorld is 'really' Mobil 1?
