Location of body drains on 300sd & 240d

I have a 1980 300sd that is dripping a little water on my feet. Last time, I mentioned it to the mechanic while it was in for something else and he said he blew out the drain with the air compressor. The leak stopped. Now it has started again with our heavy rains and I only found the drain on the drivers site near the hood hinge but did not see one on the other side. Don't know if they have them in the rear too.

My 240d is not driven much and stored in the garage but after all these years, any drains that it has are probably plugged.

I picked up a piece of used bicycle brake cable and it went through the front drain on the 300sd but started delaminating so I am going to solder both ends tomorrow. It seemed to work well.

Is there a book or site that might show where the drains are located?

You sure that is not a window gasket leak? my 1979 leaks there and I know thats the reason.....I keep the mats out of my car unless I am driving it so I can soak up what manages to get past the seal untill I replace them this spring.

It may be the gasket. I hadn't thought about that because last time, it was the drain. Yesterday, that bike cable went right through the drain and I didn't feel any obstructions. Will have to look into the gasket next.

Thanks for responding with the good idea

I will bet your gaskets is old and hard or dry rotted like mine.....

I need to do the back window for the same reason......my trunk Carpets are in my basement till its done.

You need to check to make sure you aren't getting water pooling up in wheel wells/fender wells in trunk under the carpet too. When one goes bad from age the other is not likely far behind I think.
