I was looking at it at school. Mmmmm..... W116! My friend said she did not like the brown interior, she liked the light blue 84 300SD with blue MB-tex interior on ebay motors better. I don't care what my friends say, I like the odd interior colors. (The Houston guys saw the green leather in our 81 so they know what I mean.)

Wonder how much trouble it was to incorporate the egr system? Notice the valves for controlling the egr AND the mechanical linkage for the automatic transmission. I would have kept the original intake/exhaust manifolds that came on the car in '80.

I wonder why it has 229K with "A certified, factory original Austauschmotor (exchange engine) was installed just 19,000 miles ago!"

Jim-

This is the standard EGR /manifold setup for an 80 California car. My 80 300SD, also a Calicar, has the same lashup.

Thumbs up Wow !!!

What a superb example of the 300SD!! This car is sooooo nice. I can't wait to see what she sells for. Under the hood is just pristine. Ok, I have drooled enough. Love those SD's!!!

I just e-mailed the seller and asked "If the car was well taken care of and given the fact these engines last 500,000 miles, why did it receive a replacement engine so soon?" I'll let you know if they respond.

Not to rain on the parade, or anything.... She is a fine example alright (and the W116 isn't bad either!) but I did email the folk's to ask them why the "several thousand" dollar paint job has tons of over spray inside the wheel wells.
