I wouldn't pay $10,000 for it, at least not without a big "Type R" sticker on it...

latest on this, email thread .....

I have driven 2 of these cars. I also have 2 prior S-class diesels (617 engines) and 4 616 (240D and 300D) engines.
My wife drives a 1987 190D with a 602 normally aspirated diesel, that is the ONLY one that gets 35mpg.

Please, I belong to the NA MB club, if you are for real (and this is a dream car, which it looks like) allow one of the club members to come and take it for a 200 mile drive with you as co-passenger.

got the cojones ???????

well, email me

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was in reply to this email :

"I know people have emailed you questions that have not been published on this page. Thsi car DOES NOT get 35 mpg, thats a lie. Why do you misrepresent a nice car ? It will sell on its own merits. cheers"
--------------------------------

You're misinformed. The car's last tank of gas, 12/15/04 measured at 36.7mpg (Amoco Diesel with Gumout additive/tank/fueling). It will sell to a bidder who understands, appreciates and has driven a car similar to this. There is no car like this available on the market at this time. However, I can appreciate that you believe you know your a-- from a hole in the ground. Similar nonsense has been emailed, including some moron intimating that one of the front-drive wheel lugnuts was "missing" because the angle of the photo. Enjoy watching the auction - even if you're not bidding. But - without an inspection and direct knowledge, keep your bull-**** comments to yourself. "Cheers"

This guy can't be sane. He is such a ricer, I mean come on 36mpg? Yeah down hill with the engine off. Someone needs to drag him back to the real world.

Idiots like this are fun to screw with. Someone needs to break the news to him that he has an average poorly taken care of SDL with probably lots of hidden rust.

no, lets be fair - its probably a good SDL, just not worthy of the godlike qualities he attributes to it )

Yeah it looks like a decent example. Since it is in Chicago (sp?) I would have to check very very close for rust before spending $$$. The car itself looks pretty clean.

It could definetely could be a great car, but I wouldn't touch it unless I could inspect it in person.

Had some trouble getting all of my purchase, ended up with a partial refund.

Would you buy a used car from this man? LOL

But we must admit this thread has been good entertainment - so we thank him for that and hope he comes up with other amusing auctions.

This sort of picture always helps to
sell a "nice" car.

Give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he is just confused. Perhaps he put 36.7 Dollars of gas in the car and just got confused.

Or maybe he just punched the wrong button on the calculator.

Actually, it is easy to "measure" 36.7 mpg. Fill tank up to very top, including the neck (I do this anyway). Drive for a half hour, fill up again but stop when the pump first cuts off. You now have a measured 40 mpg SDL, guaranteed! Or is that certified?

And by the way, this winter fuel is killing me. Mostly town driving I am almost empty with less than 400 miles on the tank

his response to my 4 wheel drive question...

That's an error in the eBay listing defaults. I'll have it corrected. Relax - it's not a "claim", dolt - it's a clerical error.

Seems like he cant respond to anyone's question without getting offended and in turn trying to insult the person who questioned him.
