It is in my opinion that not all E-Bay sellers are misleading and false, but some are.

So if any of you members see anything alerting, let us know. Thanks!
yes I got burnned for $45. on a set of C-D'S for repair from factoryeuromanual
aka onreservennow, nexhair, the auction # was 7970413141. the site said it was factory C-D but what I got was copy sets, had problems installing it so she sent a second set and that one would not install so I asked for a refund and sent them all back. the refund was for 40$ of the 85$ I send so I got stuck for 45$ and got nothing for it. she is from chchicago IL.

TRANSPUTE. New Service for dealing with Bad eBay sellers

http://www.transpute.com/services.php
I wonder how effective they can be?
At least they have no limits on the number of issues. Did you know Pay Pal will only take 2 complaints from a buyer who gets screwed? Say you buy five items and the seller goes on vacation, dies, gets a computer virus or starts packing for Bermuda with the money you sent him. Pay Pal has a limit as to number of cases they will accept, how they get away with that is CRIMINAL if you ask me!
USE a Credit Card! Pay Pal hates it, they try to sway you away from that, but will allow it for purchases. If you have a problem then you contact your credit card company and file a reversal of funds or charge back. If you paid for several items on combined shipment (single invoice as eBay calls it) then you can tell PayPal to shove it, you want your money back or else, and guess what? they have to go along with you, your credit card company gives you some leverage over a situation that otherwise would allow eBay to tell you how much fraudulent deals they will cover.
I've been down this road! It took 30 days for eBay to decide to make the seller history. I complained numerous (3 or 4) times, eBay said they were investigating, that they couldn't take any action blah blah blah. I watched numerous buyers place bids on items I knew they weren't going to receive. Today eBay FINALLY closed the seller's account. after they hit 19 Negative feedbacks. I was about number 2 or 3. See seller lastan67. I guess he is still holed up as STAN HECK 10015 ALABAMA ST BAY ST LOUIS MS 39520.

For whatever reason I bid on a couple of VHS travel tapes, then a few more until I had three on one invoice and one on another. Never received any tapes, and he never replied to my emails and eBay wouldn't release his contact info because he was listed a private seller (another clue! Watch out for any Private identities!) Filing a non-receipt notice did absolutely no good.

I don't know what Transpute will ultimately charge but for now they are free.
I'll keep you informed on this mess. till later, all I can say is Buyer Beware! Caveat Emptor!

SO he burned you too.............I guess I have just been lucky.

Word of warning to others ....

What I found to work...I Pay with Paypal using a credit card....not cash..I try to keep a zero cash balance so this works..

I have been burned a couple times....once by a guy selling a "clean" matching set of sets. What I got look like grease monkeys has used them for shop seats in the garage....they were that greasy...and the foam Rubber was the consistancy of oatmeal. Totally unusable. Ebay refused to help..as he shipped the item he listed (no guarantee it was as advertised with ebay) no help...Paypal was no help becasue of foot dragging I never recieved the items till past the 30 day mark....(he took his merry time getting a shipping quote) and was bellyaching becasue the original quote was less than his actual costs) so Paypal said you bought an item he shipped an item, they don't guarantee its what was advertised. No help...Luckily my credit card company frowns upon false advertiseing and internet fraud....Filed a claim with them.....they had a hearing I won...was credited my money back....paypal and seller appealed it...they lost...I told them seller could have them back if I was refunded my money and he made prepaid shipping arraingements...they refused.(that was key to winning) Still have the seats in my garage all mildewed now as I was told to hange on to them for one year in case it went to civil court...year is past and I am trashing them soon....that seller is no longer a registered seller as a result....

Paypal is next to worthless BUT if you use a credit card its value in a transaction is redeemed.

Thumbs up FedEx Ground

It's been a couple of years or so since the last time I shipped anything by UPS. I've had highly satisfactory service from FedEx Ground, and they beat UPS like a drum for price on many of the packages I send. I don't often do a price check, but here's a comparison for a package I shipped recently - Florida to California, 22 lb., 25" x 12" x 11", declared value $200.

To a residential address: UPS $27.86, FedEx Ground $19.25.
To a commercial address: UPS $26.32, FedEx Ground $17.71.

The U.S. Postal Service still gets the nod in some cases - very small packages, deliveries to Alaska or Hawaii, and anything international.

To the best of my knowledge, eBay doesn't offer any sort of shipping calculator linked to FedEx Ground. I'm a really low-volume seller, though, so it really doesn't bother me. I used to specify in the listing that I would charge actual shipping costs only, but later decided that was unwise; some folks have been ripped off enough on "unspecified" charges that they naturally expect the worst. Now I usually specify a fixed cost, which works great. The buyers know exactly what to expect, and the lower rates from FedEx become a selling point.

I'm sure there are people who could tell FedEx Ground horror stories similar to the UPS and USPS horror stories. In my personal experience, though, they've been great.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a used instrument cluster from an ebay seller called moparmom70. I got it for $120, which was more than I would have liked to pay for it but a lot less than it would have cost new. The only problem was this seller packed it in a box that was SMALLER than the cluster (it's fragile) and used newspapers only for packing material. When it arrived, the plastic face was half detached from the body and a corner was chipped off completely. When I tried to address this with the seller they were noncommital about working out any arrangement and didn't reply to an e-mail about it. I left neutral feedback and they flipped out and left bad feedback with personal insults in it. I urge you not to use this seller!!! I've never had such a bad experience on ebay, it really turned me off of the whole thing. I hate dealing with people's crap.

This unpleasant episode with a seller is a reminder that it's a good idea to have separate eBay accounts for buying and selling. It makes it more difficult for a "problem" seller to mess (through feedback or otherwise) with one's "selling account".

Ebay misrepresentation

Friend of mine just bought a 300SD from someone called "wrenchboy" on Ebay, near Baltimore, MD. Car was completely misrepresented.
- A/C was supposedly "blowing cold" and converted to 134 with new compressor. Blows hot, no indication that compressor ever replaced.
- Trans suppossedly replaced and in excellent condition. Delivered with vac tube disconnected, Bowden cable misadusted, spinning tires at each shift. Corrected both, trans will not operate in drive despite adjustment. In shop for overhaul now.
- Oil cooler line leaking - crankcase overfilled (to compensate?)
- Tires supposedly all "good tread". One bald on inside with steel showing, 2 dry rotted (one failed on first drive), 4 mismatched brands.
- Seats supposedly "firm" with only a small tear on driver's seatback. Front seats shot, 7 " gash through leather and pad on driver's seat, all seats basically shredded.
-Car delivered with tube from manifold to switchover valve/ALDA broken off.

Still solid underneath and worthy of restoration..but "dealer" is a ripoff and to date failed to make promised corrections/restitution. Has other cars listed. Buyer Beware!!

Here are to scammers for you pektek300 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-Benz-Diesel-injectors-BOSCH-300D-240d-300td_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33554QQitemZ8004630740QQrdZ1
Sells rebuilt diesel injectors but when asked about nozzeles used or test procudures used to test them he doesnt know a company does all that for him I will eat my shorts if there rebuilt.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCEDES-123-126-116-TURBO-DIESEL-INJECTORS-LIKE-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33554QQitemZ8006415094QQrdZ1
He gets a lot of injectors from cars with less than 50K miles on the car and again he does not know any of the testing methods or results he pays a company to do that. He never has any other parts off these 50K mile cars either
These guys are selling injectors pulled from wrecks the problem with this is most injectors pulled just pee fuel out which is just great for pre-chambers and rings these guys make a quick buck and kill off a merecedes.

Yeah in the case of these guys, consider almost all "used" injectors on ebay to be rebuildable cores (and pay accordingly), not some low mileage perfect injector. You just never know.

Lightbulb You would think!

After 1 year of this sticky, I still see the same thing, that I saw a year ago and with Frauds on E-Bay. Some that are out to scam anyone that has no idea what a Mercedes Benz automobile is all about. They'll take a MB that is basically "junked" and sell it like it's on it's "second coming" ! As i've read through some of these post from alot of Shop Forum Members it's truly amazing how many have brought to light the tiny but significant details of some scammer on E-Bay trying to sell his "junk". Way to go Shop Forum Members!

ALERT! Bad eBay seller rare79

Has anyone had experience with ebay seller rare79?
I have, unfortunately it was a bad experience
If you decide to bid on anything he is selling I suggest you stipulate insurance, and use a credit card so you can dispute the charge. Or avoid him!

There are more and more clueless sellers of old MB's on ebay. It amazes me everyday. Bits and pieces of my old ads , some of which are five years old, are still copied and regurgitated daily on ebay.

Brian Carlton used to like to say "It doesn't take a genius to push metal", and now in reflection and after looking around at some of my coworkers, I tend to agree with him.

Hijacked Accounts

Hijacked Account Examples:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7423456814

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9740746498

The high bidder is actually a good guy, breaking up the scam (or trying to).
----------------------------------------------

If you guys don't know about acct hijacking, I suggest browsing eBay Discussion forums, Trust & Safety forum is good. In sum:

Hijacker obtains eBayer's password. Hijacker lists items for sale on eBayer's account, typically items like speakers, plasma tv, bicycles, laptops, etc... Buyer ends up sending payment to hijacker instead of real eBay acct holder; buyer gets scammed. Real eBay account holder learns down the road that his/her acct was hijacked due to neg feedback, seller fees, etc...

Notice that in the auctions above, the item descrip states an email addy where questions should be directed to--this is of course hijacker's email addy. In such an instance, the hijacker could not *crack* ebayer's email password.....payment is typically money order, cashiers check, and sometimes auction lists Paypal though Paypal not actually accepted.

Last X Mas or during/around a prior X MAS, a scammer made off with about 120K, something like 400 iPods for 300 bucks each. There was a newspaper article on it, maybe I can get the link. Okay, back to what you were doing...
