Picked up my "new" '65 190D today

Put a battery in it, got my friend Clarence to show me how to start it and shut it off and drove it 18 miles home. First time it has run in 3 years. Will change all the fluids over the next few days. Good running car. Posted pics at Vintage forum.

Body needs some attention which I fully intend to take care of. Looks like it is going to be a fun little car. Driving it reminds me of the first MB I ever drove - a 1959 220S. Good handling/driving cars.

I had three 190Ds. I though they rode better with the old separate front axle than the newer MB with ball joint front suspension.

I still have them in my junk yard if you need any parts.

I could get 40 MPG if I really babied them on a trip and 35MPG was average.

I've got an old volume somewhere of a trip in a 180 or 190d in the early 60's up and down the America's. I found the book at Alibris.
I think you ought to fix up your car and re-create the trip.
