Just bought these Euro Lights... what do I need to install ?

Hey,

Among the many gifts that my girlfriend bought me this year are these Bosch Euro Lights. They will take about 1-2 weeks to get here so I'm trying to prepare myself for the proper installation. These did not come with the plugs so I will need those (ebay) but is there anything else that I might need ? The seller said that they are not vacuum controlled.

I searched this site and found a wiring diagram so I have that ready.

Thanks,

Kamil

Pretty sure the "plugs" you need are in your parts car, they used to be attached to its tail lights

This is for a 126 chassis but it still may help.

I'd say the exchange itself is pretty straight forward, if you have the right harnesses it is basically a plug & play setup. Two of the clips holding your current US headlights on have to be moved over but that is no big deal, I also had to get different screws but again no big deal.

Check out these sites:

http://varshney.net/SEC/euro_install/

http://www.2phast.com/190E/default.htm
(click on "EURO HEADLIGHTS & HID" from the list on the left side)

I also have a link to a fantastic site except that the site isn't working at the moment,
Here is the link:

http://drmemory.org/~dakota/MB/projects/EuroLights/Heads/Headlight.html

If you want, I can email you the individual pages since I saved it to my computer a while back. There are 28 pages and 9 Abobe pdf files in total. Or if you know of a way to link them to this thread I can do that also.

My URL has changed for the W124 eurolights to http://drmemory.org/~dakota/2/projects/EuroLights/EuroLights.html. This is for 124 lights - not sure what you have.

Did you need panels (124)?

I've got a set of euro's waiting to be installed. The lower panels are at the body shop being painted. Plugs on order from the local dealer. Should be complete by early next week.

If you look at the #5 photo, just above the electrical plug, there appears to be a vacuum port. Hook up a mity-vac to this port and see if you get any movement of the lens.

I would take a guess that they do have vacuum adjustment. You may not want to bother with the setup for it, however. You need the dash control and a set of vacuum lines to and from the headlamps.

They finally arrived two days ago so it took exactly 11 days to come from Canada. I did buy them from a guy here and he has provided excellent service. He packaged them so well that I thought that a 30 inch TV was inside the box instead of the headlights. I should be installing them soon cause I have the flu at the moment. These things look bigger than I thought they would be....

I think you can see the vacuum diaphragm inside the ones that have vacuum adjust. These look like mine, mine do not have vacuum adjust. I still want a set that do have vacuum adjust because my car came from the factory with them and is still setup for them, all I have to do is plug them in and go.

Just received mine from Germany today for the W126 300SDL. Used Bosch and in VGC. Just need to find some GOOD QUALITY clear corners and the rest of the parts to do a COMPLETE Euro conversion.

You can very clearly see the vacuum pod inside mine - I have to agree that the ones in the previous photos do not have vacuum adjust.

Have fun with the project - I'm looking forward to mine

Do some searches and see what you can find. I have seen part numbers and wiring diagrams here or at links from here. I wrote down this number but I don't know that it will get you anything. 011 545 50 28 may be a plug that you can use, should be dirt cheap at the dealer. You have to rearrange the wires in the plug, so you still need the wiring diagram. I probably have links saved if you can't find it.
