I have a 300td -84 thats running lean and i wonder how to adjust the amount of fuel. I know how to adjust the timing.
Im also looking for exploded views on the pump.
Its the "new" pumptype not the old one that was mounted on the -76 -> 80(?) modells.

Does the IP have and ALDA on it? If the engine is turbo charged, it has an ALDA. The easiest way to change the fuel delivery is to adjust the ALDA.

Please explain what you mean by "running lean".

As far as I know, all diesels should run "lean" ie, there is an excess of air in the combustion chamber, over what is required for complete combustion. The exception to this is at full power, where there is a possibility of over fuelling causing black smoke.

Adding more fuel to a diesel at idle, increases the RPM of the motor.
If the Injection pumop is under-fuelling, there will be a loss of power causing poor acceleration and possibly a reduction in maximum speed.

Since you can't run lean on a diesel I think maybe you need to check the filters and change them if you don't know when they were last changed. These filters will cause the engine to seem to have low power.
