Quick question - mirror removal

I am about to replace my 124's tattered rearview mirror ... I had asked on another forum a while back about how to detach the old one and was told "just yank." I just wanted to double-check and make sure that's the appropriate modus operandus. Is that it? Just pull it out?

Exactly, just pull it toward you. It's actually more of a challenge to install the new mirror.

Just YANK it (No!!! I meant the MIRROR! Doh!!!!)

When installing, add some spray lube to the pin and a dab of grease to the protruding spring loaded brass piece to help it snap in easier.

Thanks guys ... got the mirror out fine, and like you said, installation was the real b&%$#. My dad (who has a torn rotator cuff) and I (I have no excuse, I'm just a weakling) had to work together. I pushed it in place while he pushed on the clip. Now, on to sanding and repainting my headlamp wiper arm ...
