Satellite radio!!!

Oh Yeah! I got a little XM Radio for the car. A Delphi "Roady 2".....highly recommended...complete receiver and car kit on sale at Best Buy for $99.00, and $10 a month for the service...I activated it on-line Christmas morning, and we listened to it on the way to my sisters for Christmas dinner!

Then, the day after, I installed an aluminum panel over the ash tray space...it has a volt meter, and two 12v (cigarette lighter) outlets with switches and on-indicator lights. Lots of tinkering...shaping the plate, drilling holes, soldering, etc....(what fun) Now I have a nice outlet to plug in the radio.

My ashtray replacement panel has a EGT, Boost and voltmeter in it.....
I can't bring myself to pay $10 a month to listen to the radio when we have a few really good local stations for free.

Yes, I got a very nice, big, wheeled, red tool chest

Now to spend some time figuring out where I want everything to live.

What is an EGT?

DaBoneheadDoctor..

I will probably re-do this panel later this year, cause I was thinking of also adding a boost pressure guage.....what is an EGT?

I know what you mean about the extra $10 a month (I am a person who wont pay for cable or satelite tv....I'd rather spend my spare time working on my car, or reading). But I really liked the XM radio when I would go on a business trip and the rental car would have it. I also spend a lot of time on the road for work, and there are many times that the FM radio on seek goes all around the dial without stopping....a vast wasteland! So the XM radio is my new indulgence....looking forward to my next long road trip. What I really like about it is that you can listen to the type of music you want when you are in the mood for it...40's, 50's, 60's, country, folk, rock, acoustic rock, heavy metal, pop, jazz, blues, news, weather, comedy (my favorite), etc., etc. etc.

Best regards,

Mark

Exhaust Gas Temperature guage.....also known as an Exhaust Pyrometer.

Critical instrument on any diesel that has had the fuel turned up.....

XM or Sirius would be fine if you spend that much tme on long trips.......but its an indulgence for the driving I tend to do where I get into the wastelands once a month.....I carry CD's for those times...

I installed an aftermarket Rostra cruise control in the 300D as my Christmas present. My right knee thanks me for it... RT
