1981 300D blower fan problem
After posting the problem yesterday, last night upon returning home when the car was started, the blower fan started miraculously, the (sensors) gave about 6 clicks, and then when about 15 seconds after, it came on. Does anybody have any idea what could cause this, Im averjoyed at having heat now, but would also like to get to the problem before it plays dead again.
Anybody?? thanx again greg |

One problem with the blower motor being intermitant are the motor brushes. You will have to remove the blower motor and look at the brushes. Drop the passenger knee bolster. Unbolt the 3 bolts (IIRC) and take a look. If they are very short then either replace then (do a search on this), buy a new motor ($$$) or get a used one.
Dave You need to do a search on this. This has een discussed quite a bit. The search will help you learn about the heater system and how to diagnos any problems. With the blower switch in auto It waits for some warmer water prior to starting. YOu can press the HI fan button and it shoudl come on imediately. Again do a search and learn about your system.

300D blower fan problem
Thanks Dave i was beginning to give up hope for a reply, i will do what you suggested, Im not the handiest guy in the world but will see what i can do. This is the first time its happened, but with our winters in Ottawa, i cant take a chance of ongoing problems.i also have come upon a site with owners manual etc. tha might be of use to others... http://skinnerbox.steaky.org/Service/W123/w123CD2/Program/Climate/83-600a.pdf. The only problem I'm having with this site, is difficulting in understanding the technical terminolgy and reading the schematics
Many Thanx greg |
