Glow plug help. 1992 300D 2.5

Car went to get painted. Came back with glow plug light not coming on...

Car stared- couple of days later =no start. Tested plugs, this is what I got.

1. open
2. 00.9
3. open
4. 00.5
5. 28.0

Left the key on for about one minute and I hear a click. The glow plug light turns on after that. I wait the car will not start..

Got power at the main red wire and each glow plug. Used a test light (power)

If the paint guys left the key on would that kill the glow plugs?

Help.

The glow plugs turn off after 30 sec. The click you heard was the glow plug relay shutting off. The light came on because it detected a fault in the system.

You have three bad glow plugs 1,3 & 5. The resistance of a new plug is about 0.6 ohms. I would suggest you replace them all and also put in a new 80 amp fuse in the glow plug relay.

Try this, to get it started.
Turn the key on (glow position) and wait 15-20 sec, turn the key off then back on and wait another 15-20 sec. Now depress the accelerator to the floor and start cranking. With any luck it should start relatively easily.

Good luck

Chris

Thank you, I got the car started = like you said

I am going to replace all of the glow plugs. I am going to Las Vegas for New Years...

Where is the 80amp fuse at? I looked at the relay and saw what looked like a fuse. Do I have to take apart the relay box to get at the fuse?

The fuse is located under the cover of the relay, where the wires connect. It's the big silver thing held by two Phillip screws.

Looks like this:
