Where have all the 115's gone?

I am wanting one. I will sell my '85 300SD to get one. I just can't find one.

There have been several on eBay lately that showed promise. Some have been really cheap and not too far from you. I could have dragged home about four of them recently, it is probably a good thing that I am not single. Moderation is good.

I have my eyes on a local 115 and am waiting for it to become available. It is just a matter of time. It is nothing special, just an old beater.

I have a fixxer-upper if you're interested. It needs a new interior and new window seals (front and back), new exhaust, and new ac if you want that to work. Has an electric sunroof and a good body, engine and transmission. Also it needs new tires. I wouldn't take less than $500 for it though.

I've got one also. It is again a fixer upper. The engine still runs strong, though it does need a set of glow plugs. There is some rust that need to be repaired and the interior needs replacing. But it is probably too far away from you for you to be interested.

Cool

Here's my '71 220. Gasser. Stick shift (4 sp+rev) A/C (never bothered to get it working) armstrong method steering (no power). It needs some paint but is a work car really, it gets used for servicing my diesels (or to carry me back from the shop when necessary). OE restuffed black MB Tex seatcovers. Handles like a dream.

Now for the non-stock items. It has an air compressor in the trunk that operates off 12 V and this also is used to supply a set of big airhorns under the hood
I relocated the battery to the trunk. It has a Crane Cams ignition with optical trigger on a 230.4 engine taken from a '75 230. I put the differential from my '83 300D into it (3.07 ratio) for a better freeway cruiser. I don't know why, but drivers generally move over when it comes up behind them on the freeway. Present project is to install a sound system, big speakers on the rear shelf, DSP radio CD player and amps. watchout!
Love that lil bugger. NFS

Slap me! I must be stupid!

I have been looking at a '76 300D on Ebay in the Parts Cars section. The item number is 7940648469. I haven't figured out how to put links in my threads.

What do you guys thinks about this one? Keep in mind that I am not looking for a "mint" car. The "ether" part scares me. What would it really be worth? I already checked on shipping it here. It's gonna cost $395 to get it shipped.

It looks like a fair car if you can get an idea of the rust, I was watching that one but don't have time to look at it better.
Rust, rust, rust, I have a 76 parts car that looks great as you walk up to it but the floors and the trunk are gone, not just bad, totally gone.
The rust is the most important thing, the ether problem is just these blasted glow plugs, first mod should be the fast glow kit from Fastlane. If you do need engine parts, they are easier to find than a rust free body.
Last year there was a running car, interior rough and very rusty in the neighborhood for $100.00 and there is one sitting between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach on Hwy 17 also in rough shape that you should be able to get for a couple hundred dollars, both 75-76 300d's if you do need parts.

Good Luck

I am also looking to round out the "Third World Fleet" with a W115 (and mayhaps a 300TD someday) . But the pickins for rust-free ones in Central Florida seem to be pretty slim. The ones I have seen around here all have horrible floors from the water that collects there from leaking window seals.

Looks good from the pictures, I'd sure like to see under it before I would bid but if it doesn't go over a grand, someone should get a deal.

Brainstorming on the problem

First talk Randy out of his daughter's 115 which was owned by Palingi... long shot... but bigger cars seem to be falling into Randy's possession.... so not impossible...
Bring big trailer to pick it up, swing by here and take my 115 parts car, swing by Temple and pick up the 220 gasser ($300 or less) with four speed column shift, hit Houston on the way home and get TxBill's car...
Go home and put whatever combinations you want together...

Ain't gonna happen. Hell, I can barely wait until she's off the payroll so that I get to drive it again.

Yeah, Like you are going to drive a 115 after you have 4 speeded your Beautiful Marlene...and gotten the little items taken care of..... particularly since a turbo 5 has the potential for giving better mileage than that old 240 out on the road....
Anyway, much more reasonable to have all one style... in this case 123's for parts cars...
Oilslick , I am trying... help me out..make him a big offer... we will pick you up at the airport... it is cherry...
