Drove another E320 CDi Today

Made a short video.. it doesn't really do justice to how powerful the car is, it really pins you back in the seat when you get on it.

I went to the dealer today and was looking at a sweet silver one. $53k it had some nice options. I have yet to drive one though.

The knobs on the dash are those for the climate control? Are they getting away from that push button digital one in the W210's? I prefer the knobs of the W126's and older W140's, much faster to adjust the temp.

Yes, they went back to knobs.. I don't care for the 210 climate controls, either.

Were you test driving it? Thinking about a new MB? You could be the first owner to get a mileage badge on one!

Once these cars are out of warranty, I know another thing that will pin you to your seat – the cost of repairs… (Mind you, I’m not picking on the CDI’s.) ANY new Mercedes is an electronics nightmare – one service manager I spoke with said that he though the w211 is going to bankrupt the company on warranty repairs, and he was not laughing when he said it…

Of course, I’d still like to have one, just so long as the repairs are courtesy of Mercedes Benz North America. (But I’d still keep my old diesel-dogs as backup cars for when the dealer is out of loaners…)

So far the CDI is flawless at 20,000 miles plus.

Fortunately I have a private mechanic that has an IQ way above the trolls that keep talking about how unreliable the new cars are but drive ancient wrecks that practically need attention every day!

It reminds me of my old 1974 Audi 100LS which had everything break on it except the VDO clock. Now THAT was a lemon.

A friend at my church just bought one

He is in love. His previous car was a 350SDL which he put almost 300,000 miles in it. He said he loves to show it to friends who can't believe it is a diesel.

He does miss the room in the SDL, but he is sold on the car.
