Question Differences between turbo and non-turbo 617?

What are the major differences between turbo and non-turbo 617s? I'm guessing the IP is different and the compression ratio is different. Did MB use different pistons, or a different crank and rods?

Specifically I was wondering if the IP from a non-turbo 617 would interchange with the turbo version. From the search I learned that the IP's at least use different cams. Since IPs aren't exactly user-serviceable I'm guessing that means no, they don't interchange easily at all.

I was also just curious. It looks like the compression ratios are close (the turbo being only about half a point higher) but that the pistons and crank are setup to handle more heat.

I'll try to be a more conscientious forum-user in the future.

Oil cooled pistons, sodium filled exhaust valves, nitrided crank, higher capacity oil pump with an oil cooler, different IP with ALDA, bigger air filter and radiator.

Oil cooler is standard on both Turbo and non-turbo engines.

I was referring to the Engine oil cooler into which oil flows under thermostat control (>90'C IIRC). On W123 is mounted to LHS of radiator (when viewed from in car)

At altitude (I live in Denver), with the turbo version, MB hid a second engine under the trunk.

Just wanted to confirm it, as I dont see a point for the oil cooler on a non turbo engine, I have the same left mounted oil cooler on my OM616 turbo which uses OM 617 oil pump as well as the oil cooler, incidentally, my temps hardly hit 90c unless I am in 45c weather and even then it goes up to 87c max, my standard running temp is 80c so I guess my oil cooler hardly gets a chance to work.
