I just saw something on TV about a new small plane being marketed with a diesel. The selling point is that it uses half as much fuel that costs half as much (as av-gas, I guess that stuff is pretty expensive.)

A number: a two cycle turbocharged diesel has the same power-to-weight ratio as a gas engine.
