Exhaust header pipe?
Is this what I need? If so, at $150+, ouch!
Exhaust broke late Saturday afternoon. It had been getting a bit louder, and checking out the noise was on my list of things to do Sunday. As luck would have it, it didn't break at 60mph, but just as I was turning out of a driveway. Pulled over within 15 feet, so did not suffer collateral damage. Break is at the first joint, just parallel with the rear of the front tire. I wired it up to get home [slowly], then yesterday double wired it and taped it together with some metal repair tape. The part that broke is the pipe that goes from the back of the turbo down, past a couple heat deflectors. Probably 2-3 feet in length. Is this the header pipe? Dang, any other ideas other than the spendy [to me] part come to mind? Also replaced thermostat, which had been replaced by shop just 6 months ago. Early indications are positive, although I was shocked to see almost a gallon of coolant come pouring out. Dang, the good stuff too. Bought this one at the dealer, so hopefully it will be a good one.

If this is the stainless flexible pipe you are talking about, I had the same problem, it just split along the seams. I took mine off and brazed the one or two links that had pulled apart. Solved all my problems, pipe's still very flexible.. No cost..
