Pictures of my 3 decades of Mercedes

Hello all. I finally had a chance to take some pictures of my 1979 300SD, 1984 300CD, and my 1993 S600 V12 93 octane gas eating machine. Yea I know its a gasser but 2 out of 3 ain't bad, right? The S600 is my daily driver and before you guys thrash me have you ever driven one of these? With 405hp, self leveling and air ride suspension the ride is tough to beat. The S600 also has double thick glass that makes the car air/noise tight like a vault. All three cars have been my daily driver at one time or another. Up here in NY diesel is about $2.49 a gallon (cheaper in NJ) but still more expensive than 93 octane gas. Yea the S600 gets SUV type gas milage but the driving experience is pure bliss. I basically own the road in that thing. The 300CD is my baby and spends most of its time in the garage (the first diesel I ever owned) and the 300SD was just recently retired to garage status after the S600 joined the stable. (The W116 300SD is for sale so if interested just e-mail me) . No real point here I justed wanted every one to see the cars (especially the W116) as so many have been helpful with me keeping her on the road. I want to extend special thanks to PEH, Jim Harris, Want a '71 SEL and anybody else who has answered my questions and taken time out of there life to help a felow dieselhead...

The 1979 300SD has about 140,000 miles, odometer stoppped working a while ago. The 1984 300CD has about 110,000 miles. One day I went to reset the trip odometer and the mileage never registered after that. The 1993 S600 has 77,000 miles on her. Someone told me the S600 retailed for a cool $133,000 back in 1993. I don't know if that is true or not but no car is worth that kind of money. The only reason I purchased it from the original owner was the give away price he was asking for it. The deal was just to sweet to pass up. I was looking for a more updated car as a daily driver and couldn't really ask for anything better so I purchased it and have been paying at the pumps ever since!!!

If anybody wants details and pictures of the W116 just drop me an e-mail. The car is located in Bergenfield NJ.

Nice fleet!

I love having a fleet of Mercedes-Benz™ and my favorite part is saying: "My other car is a Mercedes-Benz...too!"

I've heard that the V-12s have a reputaton of being hangar queens, thus the depreciation. NYDIESEL, how long have you owned that '600 and what's your take on them?

Nice fleet! The S600 is probably the coolist MB currently made, the new bi turbo V12 will fly. I will own an S65 someday with S430 badge's on it.

The S600 is really an exotic car, they cost a ton to maintain and were expensive new. I think the were closer to $150k new, some people don't view that as a lot of money. They are expensive to maintain, isn't that V12 sweet.

In certain countries in the third world only the dictator and maybe the mob owns them. In one of the "stan" countries the dictator only lets one in the country, MB gave it to him because he made them a lot of money. Everyone else in his gov gets S280's.
