Question How much do you spend on your diesel per year???

All my repairs last year would = roughly $3000.00, if they where done by someone else.

That is much cheaper than car payments.

But, they were not done my someone else. They were done by you and you only should be reporting the cost of the parts.

So, how much were they?

The cost of parts for the SDL was $2500. last year. However, this was the first year of the vehicle.

The SD cost $0. for the year. Nothing broke and no "deferred maintenance" was performed due to the attention devoted to the SDL.

Depends on the year! Last year was a particularly "big" year for repairs on mine, as several things went at once (front suspension redone, that was the big one). I'd say most years it gets by with $1,000 to $2,000 of repairs/year, but then when you add in all the money I spend on cleanings products (I have a massive collection of bottles, jars and towels), accessories, aesthetic things (e.g., replacement grille insert), tools, and paraphenalia, it probably hikes up the total a bit.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic and underestimating ... when I have time I'm going to tally up all the repairs and purchases for my car made during 2004 (the first full calendar year I have owned it since dad gave it to me). I keep all the records, organized in two nice red folders, in a very obsessive compulsive manner.

Last January I put in $1600 for a tune up and a few other things and with the exception of that I just needed some oil changes. I was pretty happy. This January I have spent about $400 for a new battery and glow plugs. I am thinking about getting another tuneup next year because I think it will save me a lot of money every year...I hope.
