I give up / CAR FOR SALE
Pictures can be viewed at the following link
http://www.holdemouts.com/benz/index.htm $2500.00 150,000 miles Engine and turbo are very strong. Interior is in good shape (needs a good cleaning) Completely restored the engine / transmission vacuum system with new MB parts The car has a service medallion on the grill so you know it was well taken car of No rust The paint on the hood, roof, and trunk has seen better days. The only problem with this car and the reason for me selling it is the transmission late shifts. It shifts at 3500 RPM for 1-2nd gear and 4500 RPM for the remaining gears. I suspect this is due to a non-functional part within the transmission, so if you feel confident on fixing the part or have a spare transmission sitting around this car is a real find. On the other hand the car drives fine if you don’t mind the late shifting. For and additional $200.00 (with the car only) I will include a brand new in the box Pyle MP3 Player and set of Altec component system for the rear, new injector pump hoses w/ filter, plastic dash cap to cover the cracks, and a Mercedes interior cleaning / conditioning kit. If you have any questions please ask mattk@dellpower.com Located in Dallas Texas |

There's a dealer on EBay that pictures his cars in a school bus yard(looks like the same yard actually) Are you the same guy?

May the receipts of the engine rebuild and other work be faxed/emailed to Principals interested?

No, I am not the same guy who sells on eBay, but I did buy this car from him.
BTW I do not recommend buying from this person. This transmission problem and the vacuum problem was not disclosed when I bought the car. I Think you misunderstood my statement [Completely restored the engine / transmission vacuum system with new MB parts] The engine and transmission was not rebuild, the vacuum system that connects to them was. Thanks for your interest |

High RPM shifts?
Sounds like the bowden cable is too tight.

It could very well be an easy fix. Had one of these sitches happen to me in another car too(300SDL).
Sounds exactly like a stuck kickdown switch. The button is fully depressed and thus stays in lower gears until maximum revs are reached in each gear. Not common, but it can happen. Check the button underneath the pedal and see if it pops in and out. If it doesn't budge, then that would be your problem.

It has the exact symptoms of an over tight Bowden cable, but unfortunately that is not what is wrong with it. On my last road test I completely removed the cable from the throttle and it still late shifted.
My bet is on transmission replacement or repair. It is also not vacuum related |

I don't think the 1984 300d has this switch

It is visible once you pull your floormats out of the car. A round black button activates a solenoid that triggers this action. Usually the round black button is protruding through the first layer of carpeting(a hole with a black button sticking out) behind the accelerator.

B2 piston? Seems to me if the transmission was kaput the symptoms would be more severe. I'd still not give up on it.

The vacuum pump was not rebuilt, but I did have to replace the main check valve.
The vacuum system is truly like new. |

Well, wish I had $2,500 (or ANY hundred bucks!), I have three manual tranny's with all the parts for conversions that are dying to find a home and that's not a bad looking chassis.

Not to detract from the sale of your car but what is interesting to me is that this is the first time I have seen a W123 with Ivory exterior and BLUE interior.
Ivory exterior seemed to have been generally combined with tabacco interior as well as bamboo interior colors. However I did see one Ivory exterior W123 car with what seemd like "ox blood" interior but the dash was black. cool
