battery lite on

Well getting tired of changing alternators this will be number 4 this year replaced on 11/2/04 on about 2000 miles.
Have been reading all back alternator threads and have tryed just about everything. I have been getting all alternators from napa here local
Was wondering if any one has had any bad rebuilts from napa or am i the only one?
This time i am going to change the battery as well as the alternator and try that because i can do it for free. Who knows maybe with all the trouble i have been having with alternators no charging and over charging it is the battery even if it tests ok.
So if anybody has any ideas let be know.
Thanks
Bill

Bill - What is breaking? Have you tried just replacing the brushes? Much easier and cheaper.

Caution: (a couple of suggestions)

Is your battery fully charged? If your battery is on its last legs and/or is severely discharged you may be putting a huge strain on that alternator you just installed. If it is a rebuild, and usually is the case, this may be enough to nearly wipe out the diodes.Be sure and charge the battery with a charger overnite before using the alternator.

Also, are you disconnecting the battery? Arcing, even slight, can damage the diodes and regulator.

I have seen both of these situations, and personally experienced, damage the alternator.
