Thumbs up Oh no! Set off Factory Alarm - Killed Windows?

I was trying to see why my RF window didn't work (others USED to work) and found the Factory Alarm module by mistake! Didnt' know what it was and plugged it in... much to my suprise the alarm went off just after midnight.

Anyway, I unplugged it rather quickly. So... my question is does the Factory Alarm have anything to do with the window's operation?

I checked the fuse box and no dice, none of my windows function now...

this is not a scientific method by any means, but every now and then my windows will sort of fag out on me...if i see theres not a blown fuse, i start switching the position of a couple of relays behind the fuses, thats gotten them to work for me....its not any of the big ones in back, but try swapping the four silver ones toward the front of the car....after you move one, go back and try the windows....also, did you try replacing the fuse anyway? theres two fuses for the windows, one works the right front and rear left...the other works left front and rear right...ive found that sometimes they lose good connection, and you have to either wiggle the existing fuse in its cradle, or go ahead and just replace it

Quite often it is just dirty contacts on the switch. Try carefully taking apart the switch and cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol or contact cleaner. This worked fine for my Air Recirc. switch and I have fixed inoperative windows the same way.

Thumbs up

Did some head scratching last night...

after a search on here I found out the window fuses do work in that "X" pattern for some reason. So now my FR window works! And the FL and LR again do too.

My fuses weren't popped, just old and crappy. Today I'm going to replace them all in the box with new ones and clean all the connections. Yay!

That factory alarm also connects the Becker radio and if it had been replaced with a new radio CD unit, the alarm would be affected. After installation of the new radio, CD, gps, I got, I discovered the alarm if activated accidentally (trunk key) like you, will wake you at mid night, or in my case was 9 o'clock in the evening!

I tried to rewire at the new CD a continuous loop, but I think the Becker alarm sensor fuctions by detecting a volt change, not just by cutting a wire, or a loop.

I unplugged the unit, and live life without it! BB
