Smile advice on how to install fastglow kit

I'm a newer member and have done a lot of research on my 240d 1979 123,
cold start problems, I am a newer 6 months 240d owner, the po had the engine rebuilt by a hbl dealer mechanic about 18 months ago, the po had a
push button switch installed on dash for glow plugs, because of an injury. I
have put a new starter, new alternator , battery cables new wires, cleaned
the grounds, connections, put synthetic oil, etc. When I was looking at the archives it said if the glow plug relay is going bad it sometimes works, so based on that I ordered the earlier model fast glow kit from Phil. I need some step by step instructions to hook this up into the existing wire harness, it said to remove one relay between the glow plug switch and the controler, and do away with some of the existing wiring. I posted this on the tech section earlier, but have not heard back. Phil said these newer style controller is very popular.

I just put the pencil plugs in, disconnected the ground wire at the front of the engine, looped them together with jumper wires and attched the hot wire to the first plug at the firewall. I did not utilize the new relay that came with the kit so I can't help at that end. I kind of like the idea of a simple push button.

Is there a way to make sure the existing controler relay timer is working all the time? In order to use the current set up? The kit also came with a higher rated dash lightbulb.
