Frustrating afterglow installation attempt - my car doesn't exist

What a frustrating day. My glowplugs went out yesterday and I decided to go with an afterglow system from Bosch. I have an 80 240D made in 4/80 as a Tourist delivery. I have a pencil style fastglow system. In any case I overnighted a kit from Fastlane and as I unpacked it I became concerned - 5 feet of wiring harness, lots of cutting and splicing and a relay that looked nothing like the stock relay. I called Phil and he double checked with another source - it had to be right. No way though because I then removed the glow plugs and tried to install the new ones. What I received (and was indicated by Phil's system and a third source he checked with) is a fastglow conversion kit with afterglow (Duraterm to Bosch) for slow glow cars. No good. I then called my indy source and they had an afterglow kit in stock as well - must be an '81 since the 80 didn't work. The plugs were right but the relay did not work with my wiring harness - I have several more terminals on each plug and they don't fit anyway. Called my indy and he said my car must have been converted but the wiring is factory - it is too good to be anything but. Any thoughts? BTW this is not intended as a critique of Phil - looks like his parts book is wrong not him personally.

Phill is pretty good but books can be wrong......

I have a W116 and my unique glowplug relay means I can't use the 123 one either......

I would love an afterglow kit.......but not willing to hack the car up to do it.
