Brake Servo for Merc 508D Van
 

Hi Guys,

My 1989 Mercedes 508D van has just failed the MOT on the brake servo leaking vacuum when under load.

I've resigned myself to the fact I'm going to have to spend money, but not as much as Mercedes are asking for a new servo (well over £400! :( )

I've rung around breakers yards that advertise in the back of industry mags and specialise in Merc parts, but with no luck. Various part finder websites have also turned up nothing but 'out of stock' responses. The only information I've found on my particular model can be found here. Search for 3.6855 .

My servo is an Ate 3.6855-2200.4 model ...... HELP PLEASE!!!! :confused:

Does anyone know of a source (cheap as poss) for a replacement model, or if a different unit will fit (with or without some minor modifications?). Some basic measurements and specs can be found at the above link. I'm sure I've seen something somewhere that says the 508D van has the same servo as the 408D... does this help?

Any help is greatly appreciated... I'm moving house soon and could do without hiring a van!!!

Have you tried Enrith Commercial? They're a breaker that usually carries a lot of MB parts. My link to their website is no longer working but it's somewhere in the south of the UK I believe. Truck-Busters is another breaker.
